Chestnuts
My housemates can seriously live in the wild... They figured out that a neighbor has a chestnut tree, and that the neighbors don't eat them. Logical reasoning? Eat them ourselves :)
After different methods, (yes we had that many to experiment with...), we figured out that cutting, coiling, and then baking does that trick in getting the fuzzy part and shell off.
So basically, Christmas came early.

Homemade Pizza
My housemate and I made pizza some time ago and they turned out beautifully. We made four pizzas, and three different styles. All were delicious!

Sweet Sunday
Korean yams are a little different from the usual orange ones. So I attempted to make a Korean sweet potato pie. I think I used a little too much cinnamon, but I think the reception was good. :) I made them last year during a friend's "spontaneous gathering of friends." I hope we do one of those again soon~

Rosa Mexicano
I personally didn't order this, but my friend had ordered the "chamorro," pork shank. The picture doesn't do the chamorro's size any justice. It was HUGE. Everyone at the table was a little shocked... just a little haha.

Sweet Sunday
I usually post sweets on Sundays, but today I decided that my experience at Flip Burger couldn't be split. The food and drink were perfect. The food was a pork burger called the Cuban. The sweet part is the milkshake. My friend and I split a KRISPY KREME milkshake. Krispy Kreme!!! In liquid form! Unheard of!~ It was perfect.

Brick Store Pub
I'm definitely a carnivore. At the Brick Store Pub, they have some great cured meats and cheese and they also had "the brat." This entree is a bratwurst with spicy mustard and saurkraut on a hoagie roll. The cheesecake was a great dessert to enjoy. It wasn't heavy like some and it was perfect without any garnish.

Umaido
I love traditional Japanese ramen. I love that there is a place that offers it: Umaido. The miso and pork base is so tasteful that you don't need anything but the noodles. Bliss~

Sweet Sunday
Johan Strauss. That's what this little slice of heaven was called. This was from the Mozart Bakery and I have always enjoyed their bread, desserts, and drinks. I really like that they make their hot chocolate with milk and not with water, too.
treble clef design~

Tamale Queen
I really like the new surge of food trucks. The Tamale Queen truck was a great treat during a day of volunteering. Of course I still paid, but the spicy pork tamale was great, especially since it was my first.

Thank goodness for this because I probably would've eaten the wrap.

Crawfish Shack Seafood
I never had crawfish before, so some friends invited me to a place called Crawfish Shack Seafood. This place let's you order seafood by the pound. It was crazy! I struggled so much to just open and find the meat in the tiny crawfish. I could easily do the shrimp, but I probably got the most in my stomach from the hush puppies. Fail haha.
good fight, sir crawfish

Sweet Sunday
Last summer I baked a chocolate cake with mocha filling and chocolate icing with fruit topping. It was my first time baking a multi-layered cake, but I had a great time doing it. I enjoyed it with my fellow colleagues. It's been too long; I definitely need to make another one soon.
yum!

El Burro Pollo
My friends and I took a spontaneous trip off of Ponce and found a food stand offering dishes from their restaurant, El Burro Pollo. I don't even know how to describe it. It was amazing. The people were great and the food was great. There will definitely be a next time.

RuSan's Sushi
If there was only one food left on earth then I could live off of sushi. I enjoy RuSan's robust atmosphere and their infinite number of choices. Actually, the first time I went, I was overwhelmed by the menu. There was so much! But my favorite dish is the "chirashi". It is an assortment of sashimi in a bowl of rice. I love love love it!

Sweet Sunday
Martha's Country Bakery is an idyllic bakery with a great atmosphere. Inside you could never tell that right outside is a hustling, bustling street with a bus stop right outside. It has great hot chocolate, but I found the desserts too heavy.

Rosebud
My housemates and I were looking for a good place for Sunday brunch and found a place called "Rosebud." Not exactly brunch-like, but it was still excellent.
self-explanatory :)

Joe's Shanghai
I have never heard of soup dumplings before. I must've been living under a rock. I finally went last winter and my friend was a pro at eating them. I couldn't even pick up the dumplings without having them burst on me. It was quite a struggle, but a delicious struggle. :)

Sweet Sunday
Popsicles, gelato, ice cream, and all I'm missing is froyo, but that needs a post all on its own later. King of Pops is handmade popsicles with very unique flavors. My favorite is their green apple lemonade flavor. All of the gelato flavors were to die for. I don't remember what the place was called but it is next to a Yeah! Burger in Virginia Highlands. Bruster's has a special on Thursdays that when you bring your own banana, you get half off your banana split. I love it all!~
